How to get to Te Moe

From the North

From the North, travel South on SH 1 to the lake front in Taupo, then continue South on SH 1 for about 35 km to Mission Bay. Your turn off at Waitetoko is at the south end of Mission Bay as the road leaves the lake front, a tight left turn, onto Rawhira Road - the front road. We are number 24.

From the South

From the south, travel north on SH1 to Turangi, continue north on SH 1 for about 14 km past the Shell service station, passing through Motuoapa, and Te Rangi-ita. Your turn off at Waitetoko is about 2.5 km beyond the Tauranga-Taupo River bridge - to the Right, onto Rawhira Road. We are number 24.

From the East

From the east, assuming you have come over from Napier on the Napier-Taupo road, turn South onto SH 1 at Taupo (at the Mobil) and continue South for 32 km, Your turn off at Waitetoko is at the south end of Mission Bay as the road leaves the lake front, to the Right, onto Rawhira Road. We are number 24.

From the West

Assuming that you are coming from New Plymouth or Hawera, get onto SH 43 from Stratford and SH 41 to Turangi and SH 1 (about 200km). Continue north on SH 1 for about 14 km past the Shell service station, passing through Motuoapa, and Te Rangi-ita. Your turn off at Waitetoko is about 2.5 km beyond the Tauranga-Taupo River bridge - to the Right, onto Rawhira Road. We are number 24.

Note:

Please be careful at the Waitetoko turnoff - it is not a nice corner if there is a lot of traffic. Travelling North, we suggest you pull off to the left shoulder and wait for a good gap in the traffic. Travelling South, stay hard left - there is room for traffic to go arround you, but go slow - it's a very sharp left turn.

If you are using a GPS device such as a Navman or Tomtom, the directions it gives are very good - with the exception of name pronunciation !
